So How does Weaversites stack up in my own field? As of 11/20/09 I'm at #1 for "PPC Asheville", #1 for "Asheville NC SEO", #2 for "Asheville PPC", #6 for "Asheville SEO", #9 for "Asheville Internet Marketing", and #10 for "NC SEO".

Considering I always work on my own site last, I am not unhappy with these results - but it's time for an update!

AmericaLens.com sells brand name, discount contact lenses online. The challenge - optimizing a complex aspx-driven e-commerce site and a PPC campaign. No question, this is one of the toughest projects I've ever worked on considering the amount of online competition for contact lenses. The goal is to increase conversions - sales - while reducing costs. Strong attention to the quality of our PPC ads, as well as organically optimizing the site, are both necessary to convince shoppers to buy from AmericaLens. We are making gradual progress, but a job this size takes commitment.

Eagle's Roost Safaris, located in Nairobi, offers Kenya & Tanzania safaris and tours. One truth appears to be universal - travel and tourism is competitive no matter where you are located. My task is to raise overall internet exposure and attract more clientele. We are starting with essential organic SEO and link acquisition. I admit to having a soft spot for this project. The owner, Juliet Reed, is very cordial. Eagle's Roost offers everything from wildlife and birding safaris to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Working with Ms. Reed, I can almost feel like I'm there!

The Acupuncture Clinic of Charleston provides professional Chinese acupuncture treatment within the sphere of holistic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Karyla Gaines is a National Board Certified Acupuncturist licensed in South Carolina. The site, built with typical grace and style by Julie Parker at Hand Woven Webs, was emminently SEO-friendly and optimizable. It won't be long before Karyla is the queen of Charleston acupuncture. Already she mentioned that she's getting a lot more calls from new clients - music to my ears!

Saluda Realty is a long-etablished real estate firm in the Saluda and Tryon area. Licensed builders in both NC and SC, they offer everything from Realtor and brokerage services to new home construction, log homes, commercial construction services and site preparation. Real estate is definitely a challenge in today's market - but after working on increasing their online presence for the past few months, we're beginning to see better rankings and results.

TGR Enterprises presented an internet marketing challenge because their site features two entirely different services/products. The company provide product prototyping, tooling, product development, manufacturing and marketing. They are also the makers of two sporting goods, which the sell online: the Fly Saver fly fishing accessory, and the Brass Stacker magazine loader for hunting and shooting enthusiasts. In the process of optimizing and increasing their internet exposure, I had to maximize results for very different subjects. Here's what happened. On Wednesday, we talked and they were concerned that they hadn't had any online sales yet. I told them, "You will!" Lo and behold, the next day they got their first two orders. Kaching!

S Squared Design Studio features the green residential home designs offered by Architect Matthew Vande and Architectural Engineer, Amy Musser. With credentials from the NAHB Green Building Program, LEED for Homes, the NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program, and Energy Star Partnership, S Squared Design Studio offers formidable experience and expertise if you're looking for Green home plans and design. Their sister company, www.VandeMusser.com , offers home energy analysis and rating services throughout Western North Carolina.

Weaverville.com - A web site reborn! After ten years of lying dormant, the geo-local site for Weaverville, NC is more than just new and improved. A year in the making, it has been tastefully redesigned to showcase the hidden gem of Weaverville as an ideal NC destination for vacations, staycations, and playcations. The site was built by www.studio1337.com with excellent SEO components built-in from day one. I've been working on the optimization behind the scenes while it was under development. Additional credit for web copywriting goes to A.D. Reed. Live launch occurred on June 9, 2009, and I'll have my hands full now, optimizing the entire site not just for site pages, but also for the businesses, non-profits and festivals represented on the site.

Rising Road Tours specializes in escorted small group tours of Ireland and Scotland. I've been working with them since 2005. Google Ireland Custom Tours and (as of 07/16/09) their site is in position #2. In December 2008, the site enjoyed 82 Top Ten Google rankings for broad-search terms. But as anyone in the travel business knows, 2009 has been extremely difficult and extremely competitive online. We're concentrating on Strategic Placement for the 2010 travel season.

Carolina Storage Solutions is a new project. They supply storage barns and sheds, carports, horse barns, gazebos, and trailers for transporting landscaping equipment, machinery, cargo and dump trailers. Though the site is well-built for SEO, it needs some essential finishing touches as well as link campaigning.

VandeMusser Design (Matt Vande and Amy Musser) is an Asheville firm providing Energy Star, LEED, HealthyBuilt Homes, and NAHB certification for green homes and construction throughout NC, SC, TN, GA, ad VA. They also provide inspection and consulting services, working with home builders and architects to design green building the right way from the ground up. This site is all FLASH :-) My job, begining in February 2009, is to turn the content from invisible to visible - and highly-ranked for their particular service in a five state region.

Blue Ridge Mountain Host provides an online travel guide and directory for vacations, day trips, events and activities throughout the NC Blue Ridge Mountains. Features of the site include a personal travel planner, and detailed information about everything from lodgings and dining to arts, crafts, outdoor recreation and fun activities for the whole family in Western North Carolina. They also offer a free NC Blue Ridge Travel Guide, by download or by mail. I have been working with this site for a number of months. Despite some site construction technical roadblocks, we have managed to increase the site's Top 10 listings for key terms from 35 in April of 2008, to 72 in December 2008. Work is ongoing!

Carolina Coatings is an Asheville company provides liquid vinyl siding for homes and businesses in NC, SC and TN. Our main objective was a straightforward matter of shooting for Top 10 Google results for this product in this region. As of 9/18/08 they are #10 for "Liquid Vinyl Siding", #4 for "Vinyl Coating System", plus they enjoy #1 slots for a wide variety of search terms related to vinyl coatings and liquid vinyl siding in the tri-state area. A second goal of our work was to distinguish this company and their superior products from other "lookalikes." I think we've succeeded :-)

Womens' Art Space is a new site to showcase the art, music, and literature by women of Western NC. It is also designed to provide support and connection for women in the arts as they go through the process of artistic creation. Members include musicians, fine artists, authors, jewelers, the spoken word, and visual arts in a broad range of media. This site was created in partnership with WNC Woman, and print and online magazine by and about the women of Western NC - with the occasional "y factor" perspective. This has been a tough one because of the broad scope of the site, but we are gradually gaining ground.

Cormark International is an importer of fine exotic hardwoods from environmentally-friendly, sound renewable resources. Well-known and respected in the wholesale trade, they recently expanded their site into retail online sales. Our effort now is to promote these items - including woodturning blanks and woodworking materials, as well as finished pieces such as cutting boards and turned wood bowls. From May to December 2008, we nearly tripled their site visitors.

Bizamajig provides an all-in-one business solution for customer relations, marketing, project management, networking, communications, and more. It allows businesses to manage everything in one place - including merchant services for e-commerce. You get a public website, plus unique login-based areas for your working partners and customers. This site does so much it is impossible to cover it all in one paragraph - check them out! The big challenge was to make this entirely program-driven master site search-engine-friendly. With some collaboration with the master programmer, we succeeded.

777Junk.com is a locally-owned junk removal company in western NC, a sorely needed service in our area. If you are looking for 777Junk, their tel# is 828-777-5865. Don't confuse them with the franchises of a Canadian firm or imitators. Who among us doesn't have a garage full of stuff that we keep planning to dispose of, or donate, or recycle? 777Junk does it all - and they are 100% local. When I first started, the site had 3 Top 10 results. As of December 2008, we got that up to 37 in Google alone.

Lake James Vacation Retreats is a site for townhouse vacation rentals on the shores of Lake James in NC. The challenges include a high level of competition, plus the fact that Google Maps / Google Local doesn't seem to have a fix on Lake James... yet. Many online directories, including those specializing in real estate and vacation rentals, don't either. We have tried a number of approaches, and have settled on a focus on "lake rentals" and "lake vacations" as their specialty niche, using both SEO and PPC campaigns. The PPC campaigns are working well, but the organic results have been tough, tough, tough to reach top ten unless you include the term Lake James in your search.

Dr. John Huie is an educational consultant for troubled and struggling teens. Formerly the Executive Director of the North Carolina Outward Bound School,
Dr. Huie is now focusing on helping teens and their families on a one-to-one basis. As of 06/06/08, his site ranks in Google Top 10 for 40 terms directly related to his areas of expertise and the people he's reaching out to.

Hoot Holler Music is a newly-launched web site for a new record label and CD release, "Walkin' to the Bridge." The CD is a variety of original tunes, performed around a 'traditional' bluegrass band (guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, mandolin) but features a variety of styles from true old-time to newgrass-progressive bluegrass. The online music business is about as competitive as you can get. In December, we had top 10 results for the band Tom has played with for years - County Farm. But the competition have been brushing up their sites, so it's back to work for Hoot Holler and County Farm.

Byers Precision Fabricating needed to attract more B2B business for their high-end laser-precision metal fabrication services. This is one of the few sites that I did actually rebuild in 2006, to overcome a few technical issues with the original site construction. Google Precision Fabricators and (as of 01/25/09) they are in position #4.

White Night makes a unique vehicle rear lighting system for trucks, SUVs, and any vehicle that could benefit from additional back-up lights. Their website was getting no rankings at all. This is also a site I rebuilt to overcome some technical barriers. Since we began working together in 2006, their online product sales have increased, they have acquired new distributors. Google "Vehicle Rear Lighting" or "Truck Rear Lighting" and they stand in position #1 (as of 01/25/09.)

Thornton Realty is a site I've been working with since 2001. I originally built it, with essential SEO factors included. It has undergone a complete overhaul and facelift by www.handwovenwebs.com. The last time I checked, they were in position #4 for Asheville land for sale, #3 for Asheville land tracts, #1 for NC land tracts, and #16 for NC land for sale.
